To enable cheat mode, press ~ while playing the game and the console window will appear. Type sam_iEnableCheats=1 in it (mind that all the codes are case sensitive!), press ~ -> Esc -> F1 while in the pause menu. Since you’ve done it, you are able to select cheat options.
